At the weekend Forres completed the double over a very average Strathspey Thistle side who had won twice in their last four games – but Strathspey just didn’t seem to turn up on Saturday.
If it wasn’t for some poor finishing from the Can-Cans players and some inspired saves again from veteran goalkeeper Steve Dunn then the scoreline would have been much greater than the three we did manage to get, courtesy of Simon Allan, Lee Fraser and Kris Duncan.
Due to injuries, Stuart Soane started the game and put in a man-of-the-match performance, commanding the midfield with ease, winning almost every header and spraying the ball around with pinpoint accuracy, past the Strathspey defenders.
Our manager Charlie Rowley might just have got the team selection right this time.
Our goalkeeper, Stuart Knight, won’t have had an easier game all season, in fact there were times when he could have had a seat and a cup of tea, he was so in-active.
This was our third consecutive Saturday away game, following the narrow 1-0 defeat to Turriff in the Highland League Cup, then the 2-1 win at Huntly in the league, and again the Can-Cans supporters didn’t let the team down by bringing a sizeable support to roar the team to victory.
We are away again to Clachnacuddin on Saturday where I’m sure the Can-Cans fans will again travel in large numbers to hopefully witness another “double” this season.
“Mon the Can-Cans – I do like playing away!”
