Brora manager Davie Kirkwood was thrilled his side survived a late Turriff United rally to get the win which secured a second successive league championship.
The manager was quick to praise the part played in the victory by veteran defender, Ross Tokely, who returned to the team having been working in Angola since November.
Kirkwood said: “It shows the commitment we have at this club when Ross came back after months working abroad.
“He was absolutely fantastic, I’m sure when our team-sheet went in into the Turriff dressing-room they must have been surprised.
“All of a sudden we were one up on the opposition already, that’s why we did it, to give us that element of surprise.
“Ross was outstanding, he is way short of match fitness but he has been doing a lot of running over in Angola.”
Although it had been a nervy last few minutes, Kirkwood was confident his side was never in any danger of losing, when he added: “I just couldn’t see us conceding three goals, perhaps Turriff could have snatched a late equaliser with a lucky deflection or a penalty kick, but I just couldn’t see them scoring a third goal.
“In the last five games Steven Mackay has been on a different planet from everyone else, that is what we want of him in every single game, no matter who the opposition is.
“We still have three games to go to make sure we go through the entire league programme undefeated, but that is what we are going to be focusing on next.”
