The only show in town for us is the arrival of Kris Hunter, our new manager.
His first sight of his squad in action was at Vale and it couldn’t have been a pretty one. No idea what he made of them during a gie ham fisted draw against what Vale would claim was a pretty makeshift and injury ravaged team – mind you they were claiming that the last time we played them too.
It’s hard to say whether he could learn a little or a lot because it looked like an awful lot of players had bad days at the office – he would certainly have had a good sight of the Formartine that struggled to draw with the likes of Forres and Lossie but the one that creamed Locos and Clach only a week or so back was never seen.
A new manager usually produces a reaction and in a way you could say this was the case at Banff – thing was the reaction it produced is the same one that caused the problems that put paid to Pele and which have to be overcome if we are ever to be serious contenders.
Not to put too fine a point on it, these players (or at least a number of them) given the chance to play for the futures with a new manager, simply bricked it – they were nervy, uncoordinated and often looked like they had never played with each other before.
If he wanted to see them on a bad day, he had it there before his eyes. They can be a lot better than that though but he was shown little of this. There are now three games left, Locos, Fort William and Turra – a good selection of different levels of the league – will he get to see enough?
