Keith have played double league champions Brora Rangers in recent weeks and, despite losing both times, we curtailed them to a total of five goals over the piece, including the double at the weekend.
Particularly satisfying is the fact that 52 goal Steven Mackay didn’t manage to score any of them.
Brora have been far and away the best team in the league over the past couple of seasons, they have only lost one league game in that time – a phenomenal feat.
You could perhaps say they have bought the title – they have been heavily backed financially, but you still need a good manager and a top squad of players, and they have both.
Several other clubs, mentioning no names, have also spent a fair few sheckles, without gleaning any silverware, or mounting any sort of league or cup challenge, so fair play to the Wee Rangers.
As far as my team Keith goes, there has been signs in recent outings of an improvement, no shipping of quite so many goals, but finding it hard to bulge the net at the other end.
This season has seen some pretty good displays from some of the younger lads, and if they can utilise the experience it might augur for a better campaign next season.
Keith FC: Congratulations to the double league champions
