Formartine United manager Kris Hunter is ready to undertake a summer transfer revolution at North Lodge Park as he sets his sights on 11 new signings for the Highland League club.
The former Fraserburgh manager is making room for the influx by placing six players – defenders Graham Hay, Craig Duguid and Hamish Munro, forwards Paul Napier and Marek Madle, and goalkeeper Errol Watson – on the transfer list.
Hunter said: “The case of Graham Hay is slightly different as he is now back working on nightshifts in Dundee, so travelling back and fore to training and on a Saturday was always going to be an issue.
“However, I have been honest with the other lads and told them that I am unable to guarantee them the game time they would probably be expecting at this stage of their career.
“They would be better off playing their football somewhere else.
“We have already signed Neil Gauld from Inverurie Locos and hopefully we will have another 10 players joining him, so there is every chance we could have an entire new team by the time the season starts. Hopefully, in the next few days we will announce a few more of those potential signings.”
Hunter said the close-season changes at North Lodge Park won’t all be on the pitch. He added: “There is no doubt that if we get the players we are targeting we will be a force to be reckoned but we need to freshen up the whole place. When people next come back to the ground they will see that the dressing-rooms have all been revamped, and the whole place, from top to bottom, will enjoy an air of freshness.
“Club chairman Atholl Cadger has been 100% behind me and the plans I have in place, not just in the first team, we also need to put a new structure into the youth academy as well. Hopefully, a few of the young players will also be joining us for the pre-season build-up.
“It has been a very busy period over the last five weeks. I came in for the last four games of the season, I saw what changes need to be done, and this is the ideal time to implement those changes to take Formartine to the top of the Highland League, not just on the pitch, but in everything we do at the club.
“I want us to be number one in everything.”
