Clachnacuddin manager Iain Polworth has issued a hands off warning to any club hoping to tempt any of his Highland League Cup winners.
The Lilywhites lifted their first trophy for 10 years when they overcame Buckie Thistle 4-3 in a penalty shootout last weekend after the game finished 3-3 after extra-time.
And Polworth is determined to keep a winning team together after years of financial problems.
The manager said: “All of Saturday’s squad, apart from defender Mark Dougall, who we are still trying to sign, are tied up for at least a season.
“Although we have just won our first trophy for a decade we will definitely be strengthening our squad, we don’t have thousands of pounds to spend, like some other teams, so we have to be very prudent in everything we do.
“In recent years we have had to take a chance on youngsters, as was the case with most of our current squad.”
Polworth confirmed last weekend’s man-of-the-match, forward Paul Brindle, who grabbed a brace against the Jags at Kynoch Park, would not be sold no matter the offer.
He added: “Paul has matured this season. He picked up an injury early in the campaign but he recovered and went on to score 24 goals. . He has done great this term.”
Defender Stephen Mackenzie is another who is being touted for a move away from Clach.
The 20-year-old came into the squad in November and made a big difference. Polworth said: “Thankfully he has signed a two-year deal so he won’t be going anywhere. We are still missing some big players, for instance Struan Scott-Woodhouse only played four games last season but was man of the match on each occasion, before he was ruled out for the rest of the season with a cruciate injury.
“Unfortunately midfielder Chris Ross and defender John Mackay have exactly the same injury, when hopefully all of them come back next season it will be like having three new players.”
