The Press and Journal has signed an exclusive agreement with the Scottish Highland Football League to the video and hosting rights of match day highlights.
From the start of the 2015/16 Highland League season, ‘The Big Game’ will showcase some of the best action from the weekend’s SHFL fixtures.
Available from The Press and Journal website, The Big Game will include match day highlights, manager and player reaction and independent analysis from one of the Highland League’s best known faces – Dave Edwards.
With tens of thousands of Highland League fans across the north of Scotland and beyond, the weekly show will give fans the chance to keep up with their club, however far away they may live.
Press and Journal online editor Martin Little, said: “The Highland League has thousands of dedicated fans who follow their club week-in, week-out.
“We want to bring them the very best coverage of the league they love, from match reports and analysis to reaction and video highlights.
“The Big Game will have this in abundance.
“We are really excited about this new project and our team will deliver a high quality highlights package every week of the season.”
The first production of The Big Game will start this weekend with Formartine United v Forres Mechanics as the lead match.
Dennis Bridgeford, SHFL President, said: “The SHFL is delighted to announce that the Press and Journal are taking over the videoing and streaming of the P&J League matches.
“Hopefully this will develop over time into a product that the viewers will appreciate with one featured match and goals from other matches.”
The Big Game will be available to watch from the Sunday night of each weekend and will add to the Press and Journal’s extensive Highland League coverage in print and online.
Press and Journal editor-in-chief Damian Bates, said: “This is an exciting move for both The Press and Journal and the Highland League.
“The Press and Journal has a long-standing and excellent relationship with the SHFL as main sponsor of the league.
“We are already the primary source of news and analysis for the Highland League in print – now we are taking it to a new level with video highlights online.”
