Huntly have brought central defender Michael Clark, who left to join amateur club Insch in October 2014 after making 103 appearances for the Strathbogie club, back to Christie Park.
Clark, 20, featured as a trialist in last weekend’s 5-1 defeat at Turriff United but, despite the result, manager Gregg Carrol was pleased to strengthen his defence.
Carrol said: “Michael has trained with us during pre-season and it was good to see he wants to come back. He chose to come back to Huntly which is good for us. It gives us extra options in defence, once we start getting players back and getting everyone fit again.
“He’s an honest guy, he’ll always ask questions of us and put his own point across. I like players like that, those who will voice their opinion and won’t take any rubbish, on or off the park. He’ll tell people if he’s not happy, you need players who have got the club at heart.”
After putting pen-to-paper on a two-year deal, Clark said: “It’s good to be back. I took a break from football for a while, then played amateur football with Insch. That got my hunger back, that was when I realised I wanted to go back and give the Highland League a go again.
“I came in to help the team at the end of last season away to Strathspey Thistle. As my local team I didn’t want to see them stuck for players and I’m pleased to link up with a good bunch of lads.
“I’ll give it a go.”
