Fraserburgh and Cove Rangers go head-to-head in an intriguing Evening Express Aberdeenshire Cup semi-final at Bellslea tonight.
Cove gave up home advantage as they currently don’t have a ground of their own but assistant manager Graeme Mathieson is confident that, as they are in a rich vein of form, his players can prevail and reach another final.
Mathieson said: “The Broch is never an easy place to go, especially in the semi-final of a cup. They will definitely be up for it, despite them having a bit of an indifferent start to their season they had a great result last weekend when they beat Nairn County 1-0 at home, so we are expecting a really tough game tomorrow night.
“However, it is a chance to get to a cup final so we shouldn’t have to motivate the players. With the run we are on just now everyone just wants to keep it going. To reach a cup final in the early part of the season gives everyone at the club an extra lift.”
Mathieson emphasised the big test ahead tonight when he added: “Fraserburgh are the holders and they certainly won’t be wanting to give up the trophy. They will have their usual passionate home crowd on their side.”
