Clachnacuddin midfielder Jamie Doran looks to have played his last game for the Highland League club after he returned home to Ireland citing homesickness.
Doran missed the Lilywhites’ 5-0 victory against Deveronvale at Princess Royal Park in the first round of the Scottish Cup on Saturday after outlining his position to manager Iain Polworth before the game.
The youngster, who is the brother of Caley Thistle midfielder Aaron, has been with Clach since March 2014 and has established himself as an important player for the Grant Street Park side.
After deciding to return to his native Ireland however, Polworth is doubtful Doran will return. Polworth said: “He has come on a lot since he joined us and it is a blow now he’s gone.
“He’s gone back to Ireland because he’s missing his family and we do not know if he’s going to be back.
“Over the last year, he’s done really well, even after he went away and missed some of pre-season this year.”
Despite the absence of Doran, Clach put themselves in the hat for tomorrow’s Scottish Cup second-round draw with an emphatic victory against managerless Vale at the weekend.
The Inverness outfit triumphed thanks to Blair Lawrie’s double, along with goals from Scott Davidson, Martin Callum and Daniel MacLennan.
