Deveronvale coach Mark Chisholm is unsure if tomorrow’s Aberdeenshire Shield match against Aber-deen University will be his last game in charge.
The first-round match was originally scheduled for tonight but has been moved to 8pm tomorrow at Princess Royal Park because Aberdeen University are taking on St Andrews University at Hillhead this afternoon.
Chisholm was placed in temporary charge of the Vale after the resignation of Ally Macleod this month.
The closing dates for applications to replace Macleod is tomorrow, with the Vale without a match this weekend.
They were meant to travel to Wick this Saturday but the match has been postponed because the Harmsworth Park men are taking on Whitehill Welfare in a Scottish Cup replay.
It means a new manager could be in place by the time Deveronvale face Cove Rangers next Wednesday but Chisholm is happy to remain at the helm in the meantime. He said: “I said I would do it as long as the club needed. They have got to get this appointment right.
“They can’t rush it so I am just going along with what happens. If it is my last game then so be it but if not I am happy to keep going for as long as the club needs me.”
Chisholm expects to make a few changes for the visit of the students to Banff.
He said: “We are quite tight for numbers with injuries and players unavailable, so some of the players who have been on the fringe of the squad will be given a chance.”
Chisholm is hoping for a positive response from his team after Saturday’s 5-0 defeat by Clach in which his side ended with only nine men after goalkeeper Grant Pennet and defender Scott Henry were red-carded.
He added: “We have been struggling with 11 players so to go down to nine it becomes extremely difficult. You just have to deal with it. Taking the team has been a new experience for me but I have had good support from the players as well as the boys I have brought in to help me with the coaching.”
