Forres Mechanics made the short trip to Lossiemouth, for the third meeting already this season, but this time for the William Hill Scottish Cup first round tie and progressed comfortably with a 4-1 thrashing.
Again we could only muster a threadbare squad with several first team regulars either out injured, unavailable or just rested.
With Graeme Grant back from suspension in defence this allowed Craig McGovern to moved forward into midfield to partner Ross McPherson and those two were quite simply outstanding, running the game for us with ease and subduing any potential threats offered by a lacklustre Lossiemouth performance.
Fraser Forbes got his start which his performance from last week totally merited and again gave the Lossiemouth defence problems with his pace down both wings but sometimes the end product was lacking.
Two goals in three minutes in the first 15 minutes knocked the stuffing out of Lossiemouth as first Craig McGovern finished off a sweeping attack which the defence failed to clear, the second by Dachi Khutsishvilli who took advantage of a mix up between a defender and goalkeeper to shoot home sparking wild celebrations for the large travelling away support.
Lossiemouth did get one back when a rare lapse in our defence left David Chambers completely unmarked and he powered home a header from close range.
Forres were coasting by now and should have extended their lead before half-time but for the woodwork and some fine saves from Lossiemouth goalkeeper McConnachie.
The second half was barely three minutes gone when Lee Fraser scored a screamer from the edge of the box, a half volley which left their keeper stranded.
Then came a tale of two penalties, first Khutsishvilli was upended by Ross as he tried to swivel past and Liam Baxter smashed home from the spot to make it 4-1.
The second awarded to Lossiemouth, much to the Forres players amazement but Stuart Knight dived to his right to brilliantly save from Kevin Flett.
In the closing minutes ex-Forres player Kevin Duguid was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
