Wick Academy swept aside the challenge of Nairn County to reach the Scottish Cup third round at the second time of asking.
First-half goals from Davie Allan, a Richard Macadie penalty and Gary Weir put the home side firmly in control, with late goals from Allan and Sam Mackay sealing an emphatic victory.
Conor Gethins had pulled a goal back at 2-1 to briefly make things competitive but Nairn never looked like mounting a comeback.
Wick manager Gordon Connelly said: “I’m absolutely delighted. We carried on from our first-half performance last week, played some good stuff and finished off our goals really well.
“The disappointing thing is we nearly let them back into the game through a mistake but I can’t be too critical because that was a phenomenal result. Our reward is a home tie now against Linlithgow Rose, who I’ve had some very good reports about so that will be a tough game.”
Nairn manager Les Fridge bemoaned the defensive mistakes which led to his side’s downfall and said: “Wick’s first three goals were all mistakes on our part.
“I thought we had the better of the second half without creating much. Wick were able to shut up shop.”
