Turriff United manager Ross Jack has urged his side not to miss the chance to close the gap on the Highland League summit against Fort William tonight.
United are 13 points behind joint leaders Brora Rangers and Cove Rangers but they can reduce that margin when the Lochaber side visit the Haughs this evening.
Turriff finished runners-up behind Brora last season but former Elgin City manager Jack is eager not to lose track of this term’s pacesetters.
Jack said: “Our home form over the last couple of seasons has been great. We want to try to put pressure on the teams above us.
“We have some games in hand but we need to win them and hope the teams above us slip up.
“I certainly think it’s Cove’s to lose just now.”
Fort’s league encounter against Keith on Saturday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, which came as a blow to Ally Ewen’s players, who are aiming to climb the table from their current position of 17th.
Nevertheless, Jack expects a difficult encounter against the Claggan Park outfit.
He added: “There will be nothing taken for granted though. Fort William are a vastly improved team over the last season or two, they have picked up some really good wins.
“We need to perform at our best and if we do I am confident.
“Everybody needs to be at it, though, as there are no easy matches.”
Turriff will give late fitness tests to Gary McGowan and Darren Mackie, while Paul Young, Jamie Beagrie, Kenny Mair and Liam Donaldson are ruled out.
