Keith fans who skived out of last minute Christmas shopping maybe weren’t treated to a classic encounter with Clach, but they went home happy thanks to what was really a fluke goal from Michael Ewen.
If truth be known Keith were the better side in what was a droll kind of match. Â It’s not often the Maroons have clean sheets, but hey, that’s two in the last three games, so something right must be done.
Allan Hale certainly can’t be accused of not giving everybody a chance, and he has been giving the whole squad the opportunity to impress in training as well as matches, so the ball is in the players’ court so to speak.
I continue to be impressed by recent signings Donnie Fraser and Luke Barbour – they were both playing for Maud so it was a step up into the Highland League and it is a challenge that they have risen to.
Two tough games coming though, in the shape of an away day to Nairn on Monday December 28th, then at home to title chasing Formartine on Sunday, January 3rd.
The Maroons might need the assistance of new club mascot “The Balloch Beaver” for that game!
Anyway, I’d like to wish all Keith fans a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and more generally the same wishes to all Highland League followers, may all your dreams come true – except when you are playing against Keith!
