Formartine United face Cove Rangers in the semi-final of the Morrison Motors (Turriff) Aberdeenshire Shield at North Lodge Park tonight in a dress rehearsal for the league match at Harlaw Park next weekend.
United manager Kris Hunter believes there is very little between the teams and said: “There is all to play for as it is a cup semi-final. We need to be in cup finals and it is important that we reach this cup final as it is a trophy we have yet to win.”
Cove manager John Sheran is also looking forward to what could be an epic tie. He said: “It’s always a big game when we play Formartine, and it will be good to finally get a game as we have had three weeks’ rest.
“We have had four incredibly close games against them this season, there’s not a lot to choose between the two teams so it is going to be another tough night.”
Cove will have Dean Lawrie back from offshore and Dean Donaldson is already cup-tied but central defender Eric Watson is back in the squad.
