Clachnacuddin will try to build on completing a double against Inverurie Locos when they entertain Huntly at Grant Street tonight.
The Lilywhites failed to register a win against Locos in the Garioch club’s first 11 seasons in Highland League football but Saturday’s win was their second against the Harlaw Park men this season.
Clach captain Gordon Morrison came off the bench to score twice before the break and the former Highland League player of the year, whose testimonial against a Rangers’ legends side has been put back 24 hours to Sunday, May 22 due to the Scottish Cup final the previous day, is looking for a good end to the season.
Morrison said: “Despite not arriving at the ground last until 3pm last Saturday, and the game not starting until 3.25pm, we did really well.
“I came on for Matthew Grant early on as he was still suffering from travel sickness after an even longer journey through than normal due to the vehicles transporting wind turbines causing problems around Elgin.”
Looking ahead to tonight’s home game against Huntly, Morrison added: “We have under-achieved this season, we shouldn’t be down near the bottom of the table.
“We lost confidence in the middle of the season but Saturday’s win at Locos sets us up well.”
Forres Mechanics face Buckie Thistle at Mosset Park without injured full back Simon Allan and forward Scott Moore, both of who are out for the rest of the season while Buckie will be without injured goalkeeper Ross Salmon.
Fort William will be buoyed by a 3-1 win at Huntly for tonight’s Claggan Park match against a Nairn County outfit looking to finish the season with two victories which would secure a top-six finish at the expense of both Buckie Thistle and Inverurie.
