Buckie Thistle have signed Brora Rangers centre forward John McLeod on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
The former Fort William attacker, who scored 16 times for Brora last term and still had two years left on his Dudgeon Park contract, will join recent Jags’ signings, Sam Urquhart from Nairn County and Formartine United’s Hamish Munro at Victoria Park next season.
Thistle manager Graeme Stewart is expecting his new recruit to hit the ground running, when he said: “We tried to sign John from Fort William six or seven months ago before he joined Brora Rangers and we were disappointed when he didn’t come although it was understandable as he wanted to chase the title last term.
“He is exactly the type of player we are looking for after moving Dennis Wyness on. John gives us a presence with his height, he also has a bit of pace, he’s a natural goal-scorer who scores goals for fun, he even got a couple against us on his debut for Brora.
“Last year we played a few guys up top like Chris Angus, Kai Ross and Kevin Fraser who are predominantly midfield players but John is a proven goal scorer, he will be a focal point in the team and he will definitely bring us goals.”
