Caley Thistle manager Richie Foran hopes to add two new faces to his squad before the transfer window closes tomorrow.
Foran celebrated his first league win as Inverness manager on Saturday as Josh Meekings’ dramatic injury-time goal gave the Highlanders a 2-1 victory against St Johnstone at Caledonian Stadium.
However, Foran wants more competition at the club and hopes he can provide it before the window closes.
He said: “We should have two players in by Wednesday. One looks to be over the line and we should have another one in, too.”
Foran was pleased to see Inverness secure their first points of the new season after three straight defeats. Despite the victory against Saints, Caley Jags remain bottom of the Scottish Premiership going into the international break but the manager is confident the only way is up for his side.
He said: “We were excellent against St Johnstone and the only thing lacking was that final touch to put the ball in the back of the net.
“We won second balls and restricted them but when they equalised it was heart-wrenching and if we had drawn the game it would have felt like a defeat.
“Alex Fisher’s workrate was unbelievable and he deserved a goal. Vigurs had an unbelievable game as well and to see us winning second balls, something we hadn’t been doing, is really encouraging.
“The last three or four weeks have been tough on everyone including the supporters as it has not been easy watching us but the break has come at a good time for us as it will allow us to get some sharpness into the players who need it and we’ll come back for the Aberdeen game stronger.”
Lonsana Doumbouya came off the bench for his debut, while fellow substitute Jake Mulraney should have scored a third for his side in injury time but Foran is encouraged by the progress of his squad.
He said: “We’ve got impact players on the bench. Lonsana is lacking a bit of sharpness but he’s good in the air and brings others into play. He has a real cool head on his shoulders.
“Jake should have scored but has been excellent for us. He can terrorise defences with his pace. But it’s a squad effort and I’m delighted with everyone.”
