Caley Thistle moved off the bottom of the Scottish Premiership after ending Celtic’s 100% start to the Scottish Premiership season with a dramatic final minute equaliser in a pulsating afternoon at Caledonian Stadium.
Alex Fisher got the goal to secure his side a share of the spoils at the end of a dramatic 90 minutes in the Highlands.
Caley Thistle manager Richie Foran made one change from the side which drew 1-1 at Aberdeen with forward Lonsana Doumbouya making his first start for the club in place of Alex Fisher, who dropped to the bench.
New signing Larnell Cole was also named on the bench for the first time.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers made two changes to the side which lost 6-0 at Barcelona in the Champions League with Kolo Toure rested and Nir Bitton dropping to the bench. Tomas Rogic and Callum McGregor took their place in the starting 11.
Caley Jags created a couple of early chances from set-pieces but they failed to take them and were punished as Celtic opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Tom Rogic, the midfielder sidefooting the ball past Owain Fon Williams from 10 yards.
Inverness equalised 11 minutes later through a fantastic strike from Billy King, the on-loan Hearts midfielder beating full back Cristian Gamboa before firing a stunning 20 yard dipping shot over Hoops goalkeeper Dorus De Vries.
Controversy followed as Inverness midfielder Ross Draper won the ball 10 yards inside the Celtic half before sprinting clear of goal, only to be sent sprawling by Hoops defender Erik Sviatchenko as he raced into the penalty area.
However, referee Don Robertson waved away the appeals and Caley Thistle’s sense of injustice was compounded when the visitors regained the lead just minutes later when Scott Sinclair intercepted a poor ball from Josh Meekings before curling the ball past Fon Williams from the edge of the box.
Celtic created several chances to put the game beyond the hosts in the second half but Inverness goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams was excellent as he kept his side in the game with his stops from efforts from Kieran Tierney, McGregor and Rogic the highlights of his fine showing.
How important those saves proved to be as the home side scored a dramatic equaliser in the final minute when Greg Tansey crossed for substitute Alex Fisher to head past De Vries.
