Caley Thistle manager Richie Foran reckons on loan Fulham midfielder Larnell Cole is pressing for a start after impressing as a substitute in Saturday’s 1-1 Premiership draw against Hamilton Accies.
Englishman Cole joined Inverness on a temporary deal from the English Championship side in August, but Saturday’s game at New Douglas Park was just his second outing from the bench due to a lack of match fitness.
The 23-year-old, who is on loan with the Highlanders until January, helped Caley Jags salvage a point thanks to Liam Polworth’s added-time equaliser, and Foran was encouraged by the former Manchester United player’s performance. Foran said: “I thought Larnell was excellent. He’s played out wide and he’s played in the hole behind the main forward, but we put him in the centre of the pitch and I thought he was immense for the short time he was on. He drove us on, he’s comfortable on the ball and he’s a very clever player. I can see he’s played at a high level. His performance was a big plus for us on Saturday.”
Caley Thistle go into this week’s international break on a five-match unbeaten run, however Foran feels there is still room for improvement.
He added: “It’s been a good month for us but nothing changes. We’ll be in training until Wednesday and then give the players a couple of days off, then we’re back in on Sunday with the Rangers game being on the Friday night.
“It’s going well, spirits are high and there’s still a bit more to come from us in terms of our quality, and how we keep the ball.”
