Caley Thistle manager Richie Foran has called for his players to show greater belief against Rangers at Ibrox today.
Foran was critical of his players’ use of possession in the 3-0 defeat against Celtic at Parkhead last month, claiming his players lacked courage on the ball.
Rangers are clear in second place in the Premiership after three successive victories and Foran expects the Light Blues to dominate possession in today’s game.
The Irishman has challenged his players to make the most of any opportunities and said: “Against Celtic I was disappointed with how we kept the ball so we’ve spoken about that because we have to keep the ball in these games.
“If we keep giving possession away we will get punished.
“It will be no different against Rangers if we don’t keep possession well. They are a confident side because they have been winning. They are comfortable in possession, they keep the ball on the deck and they counter-attack on teams very well.
“Their goalkeeper Wes Foderingham is one of the best passers in their team so they are capable of playing out from the back.
“And in attack they have a lot of threats.
“But we are confident, we’re unbeaten in the last two matches and I have belief in this team.”
Foran has called on his players to embrace the Ibrox atmosphere, as the Highlanders search for their first league victory against the Gers since a 1-0 success in Glasgow in March 2009.
He added: “I spoke about the fear factor before the Celtic game and said it had gone for a while.
“Whether it’s gone for Rangers, I’ll speak about that after the game.
“It will probably take a while to build up the fear factor to where it used to be before, but Rangers are going well at the moment.
“Ibrox is a special place and somewhere I always enjoyed going to as a player. The atmosphere was always good and I would expect that to be the same.”
