Caley Thistle defender Carl Tremarco is ready to stand up to the task of trying to lift Inverness off the bottom of the Premiership.
The Highlanders slipped a point adrift of Hamilton Accies at the foot of the table prior to this month’s winter break after a dire run of 10 matches without a win.
Richie Foran’s men do not return to action until next Saturday’s Scottish Cup fourth-round tie away to Elgin City, with their next league game against Partick Thistle at Caledonian Stadium seven days later.
Tremarco knows Caley Jags quickly need to start getting the league points to show for their efforts but the Englishman is embracing the pressure that awaits in his side’s 17 remaining Premiership games.
Tremarco said: “We know what’s required, we know there’s a big challenge ahead.
“I’m looking forward to it – I can’t wait to get back at the end of January and get going again. We need to start getting points on the board.
“We can’t be too down. What’s done is done but we can still change the way the league is in our next performance. That’s all we can look forward to.
“We can train as hard as we can but we need to put it right on the pitch. There’s enough talking in the dressing-room on a match day but we need to start doing it on the pitch.
“We need to be sensible. The effort is always there, we always look like we’re going to score goals. We just need to be wiser and cleverer with regards to conceding goals.”
Foran has already added to his squad with the capture of Irish attacker Dean Ebbe from Bluebell United and Tremarco hopes further additions can help Caley Jags return refreshed from the three-week shutdown.
The 31-year-old added: “The break does come at a good time for us because we haven’t won in so long.
“If you’re asking teams that are winning every week, they would probably say no.
“For us, we will regroup and recharge the batteries and go again. Hopefully, the manager can bring in a few bodies to help the boys out.”
