Caley Thistle goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams insists his players have the determination to move out of the relegation zone in the Scottish Premiership.
The Highlanders came through an overnight sickness outbreak, which affected captain Gary Warren and Ross Draper, to grind out a goalless draw against Partick Thistle at Caledonian Stadium on Saturday.
The point ensured Inverness move level on points with Hamilton Accies at the bottom of the league and a win at New Douglas Park tomorrow will take Caley Jags off the bottom of the league for the first time in 2017.
Richie Foran’s players have not won in the league since October 26 in a run stretching back 11 league matches but Fon Williams is backing his side to move up the table.
He said: “Every game is a huge one. Hamilton are with us but there won’t be one game bigger than the other. Sometimes we can focus on the opponent too much and the main thing for us is to keep our heads and try to take three points on Tuesday.
“Getting three points would be massive, unbelievable. But we can’t get carried away. With the illnesses we’ve had, we need the players to get stronger and recover in time for the game.
“There is no room for players to feel sorry for themselves. We have to get on with it and that’s what our players did on Saturday. We have that spirit here and we’re showing it.”
Fon Williams made a crucial save to ensure his side earned a point, making a point-blank block to deny Partick attacker Ade Azeez.
The goalkeeper conceded the odds were against him but was relieved to see the ball stay out.
He said: “All I could do was make myself as big as possible and try to put him off and thankfully it hit me on the head and bounced off the crossbar. If it means stopping it with my backside or my face I don’t really care.
“Partick is never an easy game. They work hard and made life difficult for us but we adapted to them. We had a couple of our players up all night being sick, so credit to them for rolling up their sleeves and giving it a good go.
“We made it as difficult as possible for Partick to play through us and we’ll take a point.”
