Caley Thistle forward Billy Mckay is determined to pick up from where he left off with the Highlanders by coming up with the goals to keep them in the Scottish Premiership.
Mckay last week returned for a second spell with Inverness on a loan move from Wigan Athletic until the end of the season, two years after leaving Caledonian Stadium to join the Latics in a £150,000 deal.
The Northern Ireland international has made just 11 appearances for the English Championship team and has spent time on loan with Dundee United and Oldham Athletic.
The 28-year-old marked his return to Caley Jags by scoring a penalty in his first home appearance of his second spell in Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Dundee, although he went on to miss another spot kick later in the match.
With Richie Foran’s men three points adrift at the foot of the table, Mckay, who netted 62 goals in his first stint with the club, wants to put the frustrations of recent seasons behind him by rediscovering his best form.
Mckay said: “It was frustrating. It wasn’t obviously how I hoped it would go when I left here, but that’s football sometimes.
“Maybe you just fit in certain places. I’m delighted to be back here and hopefully I can continue where I left off.
“I just want to help the team. That’s all I’ll be trying to do.
“Even if it’s not with goals, it will be with working hard and trying to help the team wherever I can.”
