Caley Thistle will be free to make a permanent move for on-loan midfielder Billy King in the summer after he was told he will be let go by parent club Hearts in the summer.
Former Scotland under-21 international King has spent the full season with Inverness on loan from the Jambos, making 31 appearances and scoring three goals for Richie Foran’s side.
The 22-year-old had been handed a contract extension until January 2018 by previous Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson when he made the move north last summer.
Although King will still have six months left on his contract when he returns to Tynecastle at the end of the season, he has been told he does not figure in current Jambos head coach Ian Cathro’s plans.
King has been in and out of Foran’s side recently but has started the last two games as Caley Jags have tried to haul themselves off the foot of the Premiership table.
Friday’s 4-0 Highland derby defeat by Ross County leaves Inverness seven points adrift at the bottom of the table with only four games left however, with relegation to the Championship now looking inevitable.
