Maurice Malpas has issued a come and get me plea to the Caley Thistle board.
Malpas is one of three candidates being considered for the job along with Aberdeen under-20s coach Paul Sheerin and Queen’s Park manager Gus MacPherson.
The 54-year-old, who was former manager Terry Butcher’s assistant, returned to Caledonian Stadium in April.
Malpas left the club following relegation but would be interested in talks with new chairman Willie Finlayson, who is also looking to recruit a general manager.
Malpas said: “Everyone has got their own ideas on different boards.
“If the club think I could help I’m sure they will come to me, as they know I’m out of work.”
Malpas had sympathy for Foran, who was previously the club’s captain, and said: “We’re all coaches together, and none of us like seeing anybody losing their job.
“Richie worked hard during the season but things didn’t go his way. I’m sure he was confident in turning things around but that wasn’t to be. I’m sure he will be annoyed just now but once he has calmed down he will have to think about what he does next.
“Everyone is different, some people get sickened by it and others like myself get used to it.
“It’s just one of these things, you just get on with it or go and do something else.”
