Caley Thistle manager John Robertson hopes Ireland under-19 international midfielder Zac Elbouzedi will be one of at least three signings this week.
Former West Brom player Elbouzedi was one of seven trialists who played in Inverness’ victory against Forres at Mosset Park on Saturday.
The Highlanders have agreed deals with former Ross County and Partick Thistle goalkeeper Mark Ridgers, and attacker George Oakley, who was with Wimbledon.
Robertson is also running the rule over defender Joe Chalmers, midfielders Ivor Lawton and Jack Leitch and attacker Scott Davidson.
Caley Jags manager Robertson has prioritised a move for midfielder Elbouzedi, 19, and he said: “We’ve got Zac up and we’re very keen to offer him a contract.
“He’s got another couple of options but we feel this would be the best place for him to play his football.
“He’s just a young lad but that’s the type we’re looking for now. We’re looking for players who will develop and improve, who want to play good football, and he certainly helped us.
“He was with West Brom but we spoke to his agent when we realised he was available.
“He has trained with us all week and integrated with the group. We’re excited that, if we can get him he can be a real asset for us in the Championship.”
Inverness won against Highland League Mechanics in their first friendly since Robertson replaced Richie Foran this summer, making the breakthrough on 78 minutes when defender Brad McKay rose to head home Liam Polworth’s corner.
Caley Thistle were without new signing John Baird who was at his brother’s wedding, while midfielders Iain Vigurs and Jake Mulraney were not risked after picking up injuries in training. Carl Tremarco and Aaron Doran are still sidelined through long-term knee injuries.
Forres manager Charlie Rowley, who is close to completing the loan signing of teenage right back Ruari Fraser from Ross County, was pleased with his side’s showing against full-time opposition.
He said: “In the first half we were really competitive and there was very little between the sides, we created more chances.
“The second half was a completely different story in terms of fitness levels and, although it was a bit galling to concede from a set-piece, I’m not disappointed in any way, shape or form. The signs are all really good towards the start of the season.”
