Caley Thistle picked up their second Championship win of the campaign with a deserved 2-0 victory at Dundee United.
First half goals from Iain Vigurs and Connor Bell gave Caley Jags a deserved interval lead against a disjointed Tanagerines side which was booed off at the break and at full-time.
Caley Jags manager John Robertson named an unchanged line-up following his side’s goalless draw at Falkirk last weekend.
Vigurs captained the side in midfield with regular captain Gary Warren named among the substitutes and he made a telling contribution as he fired home his side’s opening goal in the 28th minute.
Liam Polworth was the creator with his delivery from a corner poorly cleared by United captain Willo Flood into the path of the Inverness midfielder who took a touch before firing home through a crowded penalty area.
Caley Jags goalkeeper Ally Ridgers made two great saves to keep out a James Keatings free kick and a Scott McDonald shot but Inverness deservedly doubled their lead when Polworth sent Jake Mulraney clear down the right and his low ball across goal was converted by Bell to double the Highlanders’ lead.
Carl Tremarco, Vigurs and Mulraney had chances to add to the visitors’ lead in the second half as Inverness pushed for a third goal to kill off any hopes of a comeback for the home side but in the end the two goals were more than enough to ensure a comfortable victory for Robertson’s side.
