Caley Thistle manager John Robertson knows his side’s newfound defensive resistance will not last forever but he is not concerned as long as Inverness continue to win Championship matches.
Inverness have not conceded in any of their last five matches in all competitions, with 477 minutes passing since the last goal they lost in their 2-1 defeat against Dumbarton on September 23.
Caley Jags go into tomorrow’s away match against Livingston on the back of victories against Dundee United and Dunfermline and, although proud of the clean sheet record, Robertson says his players must be prepared to show a response when it finally ends.
Robertson said: “It’s a long time since we’ve conceded and we want that to continue. A clean sheet is the first requisite we want from a match but at some stage, someone will score against us and it’s how we react to it, and how we come again after it.
“When we’re in a run like this, though, we want it to continue.”
Robertson is pleased the effort of his players is finally starting to pay off after a poor start to the campaign following relegation from the top flight last term.
He added: “There is no formula – it’s simply hard work from the players and all the credit is to them.
“We’ve got the joint-best clean sheets record in the league, with eight from 17 games in all competitions, so we’re doing something right.
“We can only advise and coach them, they have to do it on the pitch. In the last five games they’ve been superb at doing that.
“I can see their confidence growing and they’re looking to claw back another three points away against Livingston on Saturday.”
