Iain Vigurs has left Caley Thistle to re-sign for former club Ross County

Ross County have completed the signing of Iain Vigurs from Caley Thistle amid a flurry of transfer activity in the Highlands today.

ICT announced that Vigurs had told manager John Robertson he was leaving the club to sign for the Staggies on a three-year deal.

The club also announced that winger Jake Mulraney has signed for Hearts in a swap deal, with 22-year-old midfielder Angus Beith heading the other way.

Dumbarton winger Tom Walsh has also been signed for Caley Thistle on a two-year deal.

Vigurs was in his second spell with Caley Thistle and made more than 130 appearances for Ross County between 2009 and 2013, playing alongside current co-manager Stuart Kettlewell.

A club statement from ICT said they did everything they could to persuade Vigurs, who won the club’s and fan’s player of the year awards this season, to stay but were ultimately unsuccessful because of his desire for a new challenge.

Robertson said: “While hugely disappointing that we could not persuade Iain to stay I wish him nothing but the best in the future and he has been an absolute pleasure to work with.

“Iain has been very open and honest about his future in our talks and he admitted it was a very tough and difficult choice to make – ultimately he has decided to leave.

“He will be missed but we now must get other players to step up and fill the void as we have done many times in the past.”
