Caley Thistle forward Jordan White feels a greater steel is helping the Highlanders convert more draws into Championship victories this season.
Caley Jags struck late to secure a 1-0 victory over Dunfermline on Saturday, with Sean Welsh’s 87th minute penalty securing their third league triumph from their last four games following an opening day 4-1 loss to Dundee United.
Inverness were last season’s draw specialists, sharing the points on no fewer than 14 occasions during a league campaign which saw them finish third before losing out to United in the promotion play-offs.
White feels his side have developed a more ruthless edge, with the attacker now turning focus towards back-to-back home matches against Queen of the South and Partick Thistle.
White said: “I think we have had a good start to the season. After a disappointing result against Dundee United, I think we have picked ourselves up brilliantly and the full squad has really pitched in.
“The signs are good early on. I think there’s a bit more steel in us this season, we believe we can win more. Hopefully we can cut out those draws we had last season.
“We have had two wins at home in the league this season already, and we haven’t been beaten at home yet, so we need to keep that going.
“We struggled last season at home, there is no hiding place for that, but it’s a good start.”
White has featured in every competitive fixture for Inverness since making the move from English side Barrow in 2018, netting 19 goals in 62 matches in all competitions.
The 27-year-old knows he faces added competition from the likes of Nikolay Todorov and Miles Storey this season, adding: “It’s healthy – these guys are going to be pushing me all the way, and I’m going to be pushing them all the way.
“It’s only beneficial for the team. No team can rely on one or two players, you need a full team and coaching staff that are at it week-in, week-out.
“We have got really good wingers at the club, so as a striker I can’t ask for any more.”
Inverness boss John Robertson has handed opportunities to teenagers Roddy MacGregor and Cameron Harper in recent weeks, and White feels they are making a strong contribution to the squad effort.
He added: “We have got young players who want as much experience as they can get, especially playing with the first team boys.
“It will make them feel more comfortable for when they do come on in league games. It’s really good to see.”
