Caley Thistle attacker James Keatings has been cleared to play in the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup final after winning his appeal against his suspension.
Keatings had been due to miss the final against Raith Rovers next month after being shown a second yellow card for simulation by referee Greg Aitken in the semi-final against Rangers colts earlier this month, despite video footage showing clear contact from opposing midfielder Ciaran Dickson.
Although Inverness’ appeal was originally rejected by a three-person panel last Wednesday, the Scottish FA granted Keatings a second appeal hearing after revealing one member of the panel did not consider all available evidence, rendering the outcome invalid.
After Keatings’ appeal was heard for the second time, the claim for wrongful caution was upheld and the booking rescinded, which clears the 28-year-old to play in the final against League 1 side Rovers at McDiarmid Park on March 28.
