Caley Thistle manager John Hughes has made securing star striker Billy Mckay on a long term deal his number one priority.
The Northern Ireland international joined his team-mates for pre-season training today after being given extended time off due to his international commitments in the close season.
Mckay who has scored 49 goals for the club in the last two seasons, is in the final year of his contract and Hughes is eager to extend the forward’s stay at the club.
He said: “Billy is a quality player and he is a lad we want to keep at the club. We’ve got the majority of our squad tied down on long term deals but there are a few like Billy who have a year left on their contract and the ball is already rolling on changing that.
“There are other players along with Billy that we really want to get sorted in terms of deals such as Graeme Shinnie, Greg Tansey and David Raven. We have spoken to them and more talks are planned.”
