Caley Thistle midfielder Aaron Doran believes anything less than a top six Scottish Premiership finish will be a failure for the club this season.
The Irishman has played a key role in consecutive top six finishes for the Highlanders and as he and his team-mates prepare for the new campaign Doran is targeting a memorable hat-trick.
He said: “We would view it as a disappointment if the club finished outside the top six this season.
“Last season, we pushed on from what we achieved the season before that, so we want to do that again.
“We want to get this club as high as we can.
“It’s virtually the same squad here that we’ve had for the past two seasons, so we want to get to more cup finals and try to get into Europe.
“Over those last two seasons we’ve deserved to get into Europe once, but unfortunately that didn’t happen, so that’s what we’re aiming for this season.
“We’re aiming to push on again and the target has tobe to take this club to new heights.”
Caley Jags continue their preparations for the new campaign at Brora tonight and Doran is pleased with how the preparations for the Scottish Premiership opener at Hamilton Accies on August 9 are going.
He said: “We’re passing the ball really well and we now want to build on that.
“Hopefully by the start of the season we’ll have done well in all the pre-season matches and we can show what we’re all about.”
