Caley Thistle captain Richie Foran is unlikely to be fit for the start of the season.
The Irishman has been ruled out of the Caley Jags’ full pre-season campaign with a knee injury, for which he underwent surgery last week.
Although reluctant to confirm Foran will miss the Premiership opener away to Hamilton on August 9, Hughes admits the 34 year-old is struggling.
“Richie has had a wee clean-up in his knee,” said Hughes.
“It looks like he will miss the start of the season, but I wouldn’t like to put a time limit on it, as it’s Richie we’re talking about.
“I would be jumping the gun until I get the full verdict. I need to wait until I speak to the physio and medical staff, because he only had it done the other day.”
