Caley Thistle attacker Ryan Christie believes his side must adopt Plan B if struggling to implement their passing game.
After the international break, Inverness return to action when they make the trip to St Mirren on Saturday, having drawn 1-1 against Ross County in their last match. Caley Jags had to come from behind to earn their point on that occasion following a sluggish first-half performance.
However, Christie believes Inverness can take confidence from the way they responded to manager John Hughes’s half-time alterations and believes it may become a more regular occurrence.
Christie said: “The first half we didn’t get going at all. We maybe played the occasion more than the game. We just didn’t seem to get our rhythm of passing going. They really went to press us. Maybe we have to realise sometimes we’re going to have to change and adapt the way we play the first few minutes.
“The manager changed it about for the second half and it worked. We got a lot more of the ball, especially in their half, and in the end it was disappointing we didn’t manage to win the game.”
Christie has enjoyed a promising start to the season and made his debut for Scotland under-21s in a 3-0 win over Luxembourg last month. With no forthcoming fixtures for the under-21s due to their failure to qualify for the European finals, the 19-year-old Christie’s full focus is on helping third-placed Inverness build on their fine start to the league season.
