Caley Thistle defender David Raven is content for his side to continue avoiding hype after Saturday’s 1-0 win against Dundee United moved them joint top of the Premiership.
Marley Watkins’s goal after 10 minutes was the difference, with the result seeing the Caley Jags leapfrog United and draw level with Hamilton on 23 points.
However, full back Raven insists no one at the club will be getting carried away, with the 29-year-old happy for any plaudits to be dished out to rivals.
Raven said: “It’s brilliant to be joint top of the league. However, we’re letting everyone else take the headlines and staying under the radar and just topping up the points.
“We sense a difference in the way teams play against us because they know we’re going to pass the ball. On Saturday we mixed it up and I don’t think Dundee United were able to cope with the balls over the top to Marley, given his pace.
“Teams are sometimes happy to come and get a point and that’s a feather in our cap and a confidence boost.
“If we’ve got good home form and are also picking up points away from home, we’re going to be up there. It’s vital for us to make this a fortress.”
Raven felt Caley Jags were well worthy of Saturday’s victory against the Tangerines. He added: “It could have been one of those days where we had all the chances but they nick one at the end. But we weren’t really threatened.
“We were settling into a new shape and it took us a few minutes to get to know it a little bit. When we did settle down I thought we were good value for the win and to get another clean sheet was pleasing.”
The result sets up Caley Jags for a crack at champions Celtic at Parkhead on Saturday and, despite Inverness’s triumph against a weakened Hoops side at Caledonian Stadium in August, Raven believes Ronny Deila’s men will pose a much greater threat this time around.
Raven added: “It’s a different game. With all due respect to their lads, we beat what was probably a second XI last time, so it’s going to be a totally different game. If we nick a point there it’s a good result for us. We’ll be confident and we’ll take it to them and see what happens.”
