Caley Thistle attacker Billy Mckay is happy to be back among the goals, having opened the scoring in Saturday’s 3-1 Premiership win against Motherwell.
Mckay ended his 1,070-minute goal drought by scoring a double in the 4-2 win against Hamilton a fortnight ago and followed that up with his third in two games in the defeat of Well.
The 26-year-old believes there is more to come from John Hughes’ side despite their lofty second-place position.
Mckay said: “The last few games I’ve really enjoyed my football, scoring and getting chances because that’s what I thrive on.
“Three in two games isn’t bad and it’s probably come at the right time for me after the little drought I was on.
“I got myself in good positions and had three quite good chances against Motherwell. I’m happy with my goal to keep the run going and it’s only going to help my confidence to score more. But the most important thing is we got a win.
“The manner of the win was impressive. We were in control of the game and we could have scored more. We hit the bar and post and I had a couple of chances. A few of the other lads also had chances.
“I still think there’s a lot more to come from us. I don’t think that was us at our very best. That’s a good thing.
“When we are playing well we are really clicking and getting results and that’s why we are where we are in the table.”
Mckay came on as a substitute in Northern Ireland’s 2-0 defeat against Romania last Friday and the forward hopes his return to goalscoring form can keep him firmly in the thoughts of manager Michael O’Neill.
Mckay added: “It won’t harm my international prospects. I have been in every squad for the past couple of years and I just have to keep scoring.”
