Midfielder Ryan Christie reckons Caley Thistle is the perfect place for him to develop as a footballer.
The talented 19-year-old, who has already been capped at Scotland under-21 level, scored the winner for Inverness in their 2-1 victory at Dundee on Saturday.
Manager John Hughes believes Christie has a promising future in the game and will one day move on from the Caledonian Stadium to a bigger club.
But Christie believes Inverness is the right place for him to learn his trade.
He said: “The way John and Russell Latapy want to play is the way I want to play so it suits me down to the ground.
“What we have done in pre-season and what we do in training every day has definitely helped me improve as a player.
“I knew I had to work on improving my strength and some of the experienced lads, such as Gary Warren, have helped me out with the gym work.
“It is probably an area I need to keep improving but I am working on it.”
Christie hopes his goal against the Dark Blues can earn him a starting berth against Partick Thistle on Saturday.
The Caley Jags are only three points behind Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic and Christie wants his side to keep pace with the champions for as long as possible.
He said: “I was delighted with the goal. I couldn’t complain about not starting the match as the team did so well against St Mirren last Tuesday – they were top class.
“I wasn’t too disappointed on missing out but hopefully getting the goal can help me push my way back into the team.
“Over the Christmas period we have a lot of games, especially in January, so the manager will need to rotate the team. It is important we are all playing well.
“We want to stay at this end of the table. Everyone knows Celtic will go on to win the league but the longer we can keep on their tail the better and hopefully come the end of the season we will be close to them.”
