Caley Thistle manager John Hughes is planning a Highland League pre-season for his players.
The Highlanders manager has ruled out a trip to sunnier climes this summer after deciding his players can benefit more from working at home in the build-up to the new season.
He said: “We will play as many Highland League games as we can as we are keen to remain part of the community and continue the links we have with the local Highland League clubs.
“We’ll play between eight and 10 matches and are still working on arranging a couple of glamour games at the stadium before the season starts if possible.”
The players are on holiday now but Hughes insists the hard work will continue despite their absence from the club.
He said: “The work is already underway for next year but it’s important the players get a break.
“We’ve been playing Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday for most of the time I’ve been here and it’s been a hard shift for the players with many playing with knocks.
“We’ve done all the scientific stuff and the players have a close-season fitness programme to follow as it is important we hit the ground running when we come back.
“I know I’m trying to change the style of football a bit but it is still ultimately about winning football matches.”
