Former Caley Thistle director of football Graeme Bennett has rejoined the Championship club’s board.
Bennett served the club between 2001 and 2013, during the period where the Caley Jags became a Premiership club for the first time.
The Inverness businessman worked with five managers during his first stint at the club: Steve Paterson, John Robertson, Craig Brewster, Charlie Christie and Terry Butcher.
He is hoping to make a positive contribution upon his return to the Highland capital side.
Bennett told the club website: “I wanted to come back and help the club, especially in the difficult financial challenges which the pandemic brought and of course, the current cost of living crisis we are all going through together and I am looking forward re-joining the ICT board of directors.
“I am sure I can make a positive contribution to the club again and I am looking forward to doing exactly that.”
When Caley Thistle were first promoted to the old Scottish Premier League in 2004, the requirement for stadia were that they had 10,000 seats, however the Caledonian Stadium only had 2,280.
Inverness had to groundshare at Pittodrie initially, before the SPL’s rules were relaxed to 6,000 seats and the club were able to complete a rapid expansion of the ground.
Bennett joins Ross Morrison, Gordon Fyfe, Liam Dalgarno, Allan Munro and David Cameron on the board of directors.
Caley Thistle chairman Morrison added: “Graeme rarely misses a game at Caledonian Stadium and his previous experience within the Scottish game and his business connections within Inverness and the Highlands and Islands will prove invaluable to the club.
“In truth, there has basically been an open invitation for Graeme to join the executive board for numerous years but Graeme was fairly stretched throughout that period with his own business commitments and of course we also had the pandemic, but his love of the club is unquestionable and I am looking forward to working with him and I know our CEO is too.”
