Caley Thistle head coach Billy Dodds felt his side deserved to beat Arbroath – and the 1-1 draw was the result based on poor finishing where it matters.
Nathan Shaw gave ICT the lead early in the second half, but that was cancelled out by Kieran Shanks on the hour mark after a defensive error.
The draw means ICT are fifth, but only three points away from Ayr United, while it took Arbroath above Hamilton at the basement area of the division.
He said: “There has been nothing wrong with our passing in the last two games.
“We’re passing it well. We forced a couple in the first half, but the boys know that.
“I was really happy with the passing performance and with the chances we created. Yet again, but not as much as Morton, at one end we’re missing them and at the other end we’re gifting them.
“As much as Arbroath had the last 15 minutes, we had a couple of chances as well. I felt overall we dominated the game. If we had got a second goal, we could have gone on to win it quite easily. I felt we deserved to win today, although they had the last 15 minutes.
“Derek Gaston (Arbroath keeper) was excellent and he produced a couple of big saves, but there was a couple where he shouldn’t have had a chance. I’m asking us to be a bit more clinical, but we’re not quite ruthless enough. When you get a chance, bury it.”
Arbroath manager Dick Campbell, meanwhile, was thrilled the outcome was enough to take them off the foot of the table, above Hamilton on goal difference.
He said: “People maybe start asking questions about my team but that performance answered it today.
“We were magnificent in the second half. Don’t be kidded on about Inverness and their results, they will be there at the end of the season.
“I was absolutely delighted with the attitude and work-rate of the players. We could have stolen it in the end. I am delighted we got a point and we’re off the bottom of the league.
“Billy might say he’s got eight players missing – I’ve got six out. Four of those six would walk into any other team in this league.
“I’m delighted for the players and for the travelling fans.”
