Caley Thistle boss Billy Dodds has moved quickly to dash speculation about a fall-out between himself and goalkeeper Mark Ridgers.
Since being subbed at half-time in last week’s 4-0 Championship defeat at Morton, there has been plenty of talk about a bust-up between the head coach and the experienced shot-stopper.
Ridgers made an error for the first Morton goal and was hooked after 45 minutes with the score at 3-0.
Cammy MacKay played in the second half and started in Saturday’s 1-1 home draw against Arbroath, which keeps ICT within three points of leaders Ayr United.
Ridgers accepted manager’s decision
Dodds was happy with MacKay’s display between the sticks and was keen to put the record straight from his point of view regarding how things have been in relation to Ridgers.
He said: “Big Mark has made a couple of errors, but he’s been good for me.
“I am blessed to have two good goalies.
“This is not Cammy MacKay, who at 20-21 was not putting enough pressure on Mark. This is Cammy MacKay who has turned out to be a top keeper.
“Some people look in from the outside and make up stories.
“It is as simple as this. Mark and I had a chat last Monday, no problems. I told him what I was thinking and there was no problem.
“On Saturday, he was great and was a big support for Cammy. Mark accepted my decision brilliantly.

“Cammy now has the jersey and what I want is competition throughout the team. Cammy performed well.
“Maybe when he was 20-21, Cammy didn’t believe he was as good as he is. Now he’s 25, you can see with his kicking and a great save he made against Arbroath, he was great.
“It’s a straight shoot-out between the two keepers. There was no more to it.
“We had a debate – a difference of opinion – and there was no problem. Some people are saying ‘there must have been fisticuffs’ – it’s a load of nonsense. That’s miles off the truth.”
