Caley Thistle defender Danny Devine hopes he has done enough to keep his place in the Inverness line-up for this weekend’s Premiership match against Partick Thistle.
Northern Irishman Devine has played the last two games, filling in for suspended centre half Gary Warren, who was sent off in last month’s 1-1 draw against Dundee United.
Warren will be available for Saturday’s trip to Firhill, but after scoring the only goal in his side’s 1-0 Scottish Cup quarter-final win against Raith Rovers last Tuesday, Devine hopes he can keep the Englishman out of the team.
Prior to the last two matches Devine had made just one substitute appearance all season, and with the 22-year-old out of contract at the end of the season, he is eager to make an impression.
Devine said: “It’s been tough all year for myself. Gary and Josh Meekings have been doing so well at centre half, but this is the chance I’ve been waiting for.
“I’m just happy to get some game time.
“I’ve come into the team to help keep the good run we’re on at the moment going.
“Hopefully there’s more of that to come.
“It has been frustrating. Ask any footballer who’s not playing, and is sitting on the bench watching his team doing so well, they really want to be part of things.
“It’s been tough on me, and there are other players who have also been on the bench.
“Players just have to stay ready for situations like this, and when the chance comes try their best to take it.”
