Josh Meekings is free to play in the Scottish Cup final after the SFA accepted the appeal against their decision to give him a one match ban.
SFA compliance officer Tony McGlennan offered the 22-year-old a one-match ban on Tuesday for deliberately handling the ball to keep Celtic attacker Leigh Griffiths’ header out during the 3-2 semi-final win against the Hoops at Hampden on Sunday.
Inverness rejected the offer and club representatives joined the Englishman in pleading his innocence at Hampden today.
After hours behind closed doors the SFA confirmed the the ban had been uplifted and Meekings may now line up for the Caley Jags against Falkirk in next month’s final.
Inverness Caley Thistle have released a statement from chairman Kenny Cameron on the official club website saying the club is “delighted” with the decision.
The statement reads: “The club is delighted for Josh that the Judicial Panel Tribunal dismissed the complaint brought against him.
“Josh will now be available for selection for the Cup Final on 30th May 2015 v Falkirk FC.
“The result means that the club can now fully appreciate the achievement of reaching it’s first ever Scottish Cup Final and focus on preparations for Saturdays game versus Aberdeen FC.
“On a personal note, both Josh and I would like to express our gratitude to our legal team from Harper Macleod led by Partner David Kerr who worked tirelessly to ensure a favourable outcome.”
