Caley Thistle defender Danny Devine is eager to ensure his side’s success this season is no one-off after signing a new one-year contract.
Devine’s 12-month extension, with the option of a further year, was confirmed on the morning of Inverness’ Scottish Cup final triumph against Falkirk on Saturday.
The Northern Irishman played all 90 minutes of the 2-1 win, helping Caley Jags claim their first major silverware.
Inverness’ cup victory came at the end of an already historic campaign, in which they qualified for Europe for the first time by finishing third in the Premiership.
Having made only 11 appearances throughout the season, Devine is looking to establish a more regular place in John Hughes’ side.
Despite the lack of action, Devine is pleased to have settled his future and is optimistic the Highlanders can sustain their form into the new campaign.
Devine said: “I’m glad to be a part of it for next year and hopefully we can push on, and have an even better season.
“This is our first full season under the manager. The lads have taken his style of play on board in just over a year.
“The players will want to come back firing in pre-season, looking to push on even more next season.”
Devine says Saturday’s achievements have yet to fully hit home with the Caley Jags’ squad, having led the club to its first major trophy 21 years after its formation.
Devine is proud to have played his part in creating history with Inverness and the 22-year-old added: “For all the boys it’s still taking a bit of time to sink in. What a season, topped off with the Scottish Cup. It’s amazing.
“The spirit is unbelievable between the lads in the dressing-room and also the staff, the supporters and the club in general.
“We go into every game believing we’re going to win.
“It’s been a long, tough season but it’s been the best in the club’s history without a doubt.
“All the boys are still buzzing.”
