After notching his first goal for Caley Thistle, Dani Lopez is determined to help Inverness to their first win of the season.
The Spaniard scored a late consolation in Saturday’s 4-2 defeat at Celtic Park after coming on as a second-half substitute.
It was the 29-year-old’s first goal in six appearances for his new club, which has taken two points from a slow start to the Scottish Premiership season and hosts Hamilton Accies this weekend.
Lopez said: “We were disappointed with the result but I was happy to get on the scoresheet as I felt I needed a goal. It is my first goal for Inverness.
“We can take positives from the two late goals as it was a very difficult match.
“The two goals changed the dynamic slightly, so, hopefully, we can build on that as we look for the first win.
“We really want to get the first win sooner than later.”
Lopez was a member of the Atletico Madrid academy as a teenager and spent the majority of his career in his homeland until moving from Segunda Division B side Badajoz to English League One team Stevenage in 2012.
Lopez struggled to establish himself at the club and was sent out on loan to Aldershot Town and Barnet before returning to Spain with La Roda in January.
However the attacker is enjoying his second taste of British football.
He added: “Scottish football is different but I am used to the more physical side of the game from my time at Stevenage. It is different to what I was used to in Spain but at Inverness the training is more similar to what we did in Spain.
“The manager likes passing football, whereas other teams can be more physical.
“It is a very good group at Inverness. Everyone, from the manager to the staff and the players, has been really helpful. I am enjoying living in Inverness and I’m really happy.”
Manager John Hughes insists his injury-hit side is not feeling too despondent, despite a testing start to the season.
He said: “As the days go by we will get one or two of the injured boys back in but, in the meantime, we just need to get on with it.
“There is a really good team spirit among them and what we did in the second half against Celtic is more like the standard we are after.
“We need to try to do that for 90 minutes.
“Because of our injuries, I am playing Ross Draper in the centre of defence and Danny Williams all over the pitch but he is giving me everything he has.
“They are a good bunch of boys and our season won’t be judged on what happens at Celtic Park.”
