Caley Thistle midfielder Greg Tansey is determined not to let an achilles injury worsen Inverness’ selection crisis.
Tansey suffered the injury in the early minutes of last weekend’s 2-0 defeat by Hamilton Accies at Caledonian Stadium and, despite trying to run it off, he limped off to be replaced by Carl Tremarco in the 66th minute of the match.
Inverness had seven players out injured for the visit of Accies, with Dean Brill, Richie Foran, Gary Warren, Josh Meekings, Aaron Doran, James Vincent and Jordan Roberts all sidelined.
Tansey’s injury comes as a further blow to Caley Jags but the 26-year-old is intent on being part of the side that takes on Dundee at Dens Park on Saturday.
Tansey said: “It’s one of those things players get in games sometimes – 90% of the time I’d be able to run it off.
“This one just didn’t seem to go, though. I notified the physio at half-time and iced it but maybe the lack of movement at half-time made it even stiffer when I came on to the pitch for the second half.
“I’ll be doing everything I can to be out on the pitch against Dundee, or involved in the game whatever way I can. I doubt I’ll be out for too long.
“I don’t really like putting up my hand and saying I’m not right.
“We are so low on bodies I just had to try and play through it. We need players back as soon as possible and players to stay on the pitch as long as possible, so from now onwards it’s about sticking together.
“It seems to be going against us at the minute.”
Inverness are still looking for their first win of the campaign and, with just three goals from their opening seven matches, Tansey reckons Caley Jags are suffering from a lack of confidence in the final third.
The Englishman added: “In the first 20 minutes against Hamilton, we had a few chances. Maybe last year they would have gone in, and it’s a different game altogether.
“When Hamilton nicked a goal, against the run of play, we were thinking ‘here we go again.’
“The goals will come. We are creating chances and the lads will start sticking them away. We all need to stand up and get us goals, myself included.
“Over the course of the last 18 months we’ve had enough highs but in football there are highs and lows. At the minute this is a bit of a low.
“The only way we get through is by sticking together, working hard and the results will come.”
