Caley Thistle came from behind to earn a deserved point against Dundee United at Tannadice.
Former Inverness player Billy Mckay, who has joined the Tangerines on loan from Wigan Athletic until the end of the season, fired the hosts in front after seven minutes.
But Josh Meekings headed home his first goal of the season after 56 minutes to earn John Hughes’ side a share of the spoils.
Caley Thistle, unbeaten in their last five matches against Dundee United, went into this encounter buoyed by recording a first win of the season against Hearts in their previous outing.
Dundee United were in dire need of a victory to ease the pressure on manager Jackie McNamara, with the side sitting second bottom with only four points from their opening seven matches.
Jackie McNamara’s side had lost their previous four league matches – Craig Brewster was in charge when the last time they lost five in a row in 2006.
Billy Mckay shrugged off an ankle injury to line up against his former side, while McNamara made two changes to the side defeated 2-1 by Kilmarnock with Darko Bodul and John Rankin replacing Blair Spittal and Adam Taggart.
Inverness stuck with the same starting XI that defeated Hearts 2-0 with on-loan Swindon Town attacker Miles Storey leading the line for John Hughes’ side.
United made the perfect start to the match and took the lead with only seven minutes on the clock.
Ryan McGowan linked up with Scott Fraser before crossing for Bodul whose close-range effort was kept out by Owain Fon Williams but Mckay was quickest to turn home the loose ball.
United should have made it two four minutes later when Callum Morris found Rankin unmarked with only Fon Williams to beat but the Welshman managed to thwart the former Inverness player with a smart stop.
The United pressure continued with Mckay’s rasping left-foot drive superbly saved by Fon Williams.
Caley Thistle looked brighter after the break and they restored parity after 56 minutes when Josh Meekings headed home a Ryan Christie corner.
The Tangerines almost regained the initiative immediately with Mckay denied by a great block from Danny Devine and Mark Durnan heading into the side-netting from the resulting corner.
Christie, the on-loan Celtic midfielder, almost created a second for Caley Jags when he sent Carl Tremarco through on goal with a superb pass but the left-back shot straight at Luis Zwick.
Draper was fortunate to avoid a second booking for a late challenge on Rankin before Richie Foran replaced Danny Williams, making his first league appearance for 18 months following a serious knee injury.
United had the ball in the net with four minutes remaining when substitute Simon Murray rammed home a Mckay cutback but the strike was chalked off for offside.
